After high school I went to work for Pacific Tube Co. in City of Commerce and worked there for 36 1/2 years until they closed then worked for Martin Container, Co. in Compton for just over 14 years and then I retired.

I went to Stanford Avenue Elementary School in South Gate and then on to South Gate Junior High School and South Gate High School and graduated in the summer of 1963.
A favorite school story? Funny memory?
We had just moved form Canada to South Gate and my first day at Sanford Avenue Elementary School and I was scared to death. They showed me to my classroom. About an hour later these bells started ringing and they lined us all up and walked us outside the building. I didn't know what was going on and I was so afraid to speak to anyone. We were all waiting and waiting and the teachers didn't say what was going on. Little by little some kids started spreading out on the grass just waiting. I thought we could go home so I did. When I got home mum asked me how my day was and I told her we all got to leave early. The next day no one even missed me but later I found out that's what they do here for fire drills we go out of the building and wait for the all clear sign.
