Ken McINTOSH W'63

Ken was in the winter class of 1963.  He passed away in 1984 at the age of 39.  He was in a boat accident in 1974 that caused his death in 1984.

Ken was a professional drag boat racer driving blown fuel hydro.  He crashed in Oakland, Ca in 1974 and was paralyzed from the neck down.  He lived for 10 yrs after the accident.  In 1974 he was a world championship breaking the record at 206 mph on water.

My first “dates” were to Boy Scout dances at South Gate Park with Ken.  Later after high school we went water skiing a couple times at Carlsbad.  He had a fast boat even then.  RIP dear friend

Ken was a real sweetie - in the nicest way.  I recall seeing a picture of the boat accident in the LA Times in 1974 - it was a spectacular picture - sports front page.  I was very surprised that I knew the driver of the boat.  RIP Ken.

Ken was a nice guy. I remember he had a white corvette in 1964. Not sure what model year it was.
